What do students learn in Node?
Through the use of real-world data, including some from the City of Charlottesville, students will be able to create impactful and insight-driven projects. We'll explore the context of our data as well as the implications it has for the people it affects. Students will also be given the tools to connect data science with their other interests.
About the final project
The final project for Node had students complete the entire data science process. They were to pick a dataset from a subject that interested them, ask questions about the data, and then present those findings through visualizations and analysis. They were also asked to choose data that could be used to positively impact the community and make a connection been what they found and its community impact. They were to create a presentation to display their findings.

Happiness in 2021
With everything happening over the world, it can be easy to get caught up in negativity and focusing on our shortcomings. This project seeks to use the World Happiness Report to understand and learn from the strengths of various parts of the world as well as paint a clearer picture of global well being and happiness.

Global Airline Safety
My project analyzes global airlines and their abilities to be safe in terms of the airline's amounts of incidents, fatal accidents, and fatalities for two sets of years including 1985-1999 and 2000-2014. Overall, the amount of incidents, fatal accidents, and fatalities have decreased between 1985-1999 and 2000-2014, so airline safety has most likely increased!

Police Shootings in the U.S.
In my project I wanted to use the data available in certain cities to find those most susceptible to being a victim of a police shooting. By finding trends in the data we are able to make a profile of those most at risk in Charleston SC, Detroit MI, Los Angeles CA, and Atlanta GA.
